Passing it on to the next generation June 16, 2010

I bought this book in the 70's at a school book fair. It's one of those childhood items I've managed to keep. I ran across it recently while doing some spring cleaning. The cover is worn. There are some scribblings done by my younger sister. I also found some of my early experiments with four letter words.
My sister asked if I still had it, as my two year old niece has started her own scribbling. I'm sending her a new copy, and hope she will keep her copy as long as I've owned mine.

My daughters loved Ed Emberley drawing books when they were younger. Now one is going to be a mother and requested this particular book for Christmas. She wants to decorate the nursery with Ed Emberley drawings. My other daughter still has one of his books and shared it with her sister--one condition--"I get it back".

My son just turned seven and really enjoys this book. He does enjoy How to Draw books in general, but he really liked this one a lot. The images are fun and Emberley breaks them down into very simple steps. This is an important concept for a child to grasp. Small doable steps can lead to something that may look impossible.

My 7 year old daughter had used a similar book by the same author at her school for Halloween. She asked if we could get another one of Ed Emberley's books and we picked the animals book. She was able to draw really great pictures of animals very easily, on her own. I highly recommend.
